Dr. Trevor Denisen - Veterinarian

Dr. Trevor Denisen grew up in Grand Meadow, Minnesota, a small town about an hour west of Winona. Raised in a family of veterinarians, he was introduced to veterinary medicine early in life and developed a lifelong love for animals.

Dr. Denisen attended Winona State University for his undergraduate studies, where he fell in love with the Winona community and all the area has to offer. Although his undergraduate degree was in accounting, he realized just before graduating in 1994 that his true calling was veterinary medicine. He continued his studies at Winona State for two additional years before being accepted into the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, where he earned his DVM degree in 2001.

After veterinary school, Dr. Denisen had the opportunity to return to Winona and has spent the past 25 years caring for cats and dogs, building long-standing relationships with pets and their families.

One of the things Dr. Denisen appreciates most about veterinary medicine is that there is always something new to learn and experience. Over the course of his career, he has watched puppies grow into senior dogs and has supported families through every stage of their pets’ lives—from the joy of welcoming a new puppy to the heartbreak of saying goodbye to a beloved companion.

Dr. Denisen is also trained in Veterinary Spinal Manipulation Therapy. Having experienced the benefits of chiropractic care throughout his own life, he wanted to bring that same supportive approach to animal health and well-being.

Outside of work, Dr. Denisen enjoys spending time with his three children. His youngest recently graduated from Winona High School, and his two older children are in college. He also enjoys working in his vegetable garden, playing Frisbee golf with his kids, and exploring the mountain biking trails at Holzinger and Cherry Hill. He is an avid fan of Minnesota sports teams especially the Vikings.

This past July, Dr. Denisen said goodbye to his beloved Thunder, a 14-year-old poodle cross. While he is currently without a pet, he knows another puppy will likely become part of his life in the future.
